Mar. 1997: RICA Results

In the "Round Table on Data Compression Techniques for Space Applications" conference held by ESTEC in Noordwijk on the 2nd and 3rd of October 1996, CAPTEC presented the results obtained using its patented Reversible Image Compression Algorithm (RICA) on a set of test images supplied by ESTEC.

A comparison of the results obtained by the various methods has been recently been published by ESTEC in the proceedings of the conference. For the General Purpose Lossless Compressor category, CAPTEC obtained the highest compression ratio:

These results were obtained on one image of the Reference Test Data Set namely the AVHRR-Equator-image.
