Feb. 1997: ESA Visit to CAPTEC

During a visit to CAPTEC on the 6th February, The European Space Agency (ESA) project manager for the X-ray Multi-Mirror (XMM) satellite, Mr. Robert Lainé, gave a presentation on the progress of the satellite's development to CAPTEC staff. Also invited were Mr. Brian O'Donnell from Forbairt and Mark Rixton from Matra Marconi Space (MMS) in Bristol.

The construction of the 58 concentric low-incidence X-Ray mirrors in each of XMM's 3 on-board X-Ray mirror modules was described in detail.

Mr Lainé congratulated CAPTEC on its production of the Attitude and Orbit Control Software for XMM within schedule.
