Space Software Engineer (CAP_11S02)

CAPTEC is currently recruiting suitably qualified engineers for the development and support of On-Board Control Procedures (OBCPs) for the BepiColombo ESA science mission. A significant part or all of the work will be located in Friedrichshafen, Germany starting in January 2012.

The OBCPs are procedures executed autonomously on-board the spacecraft. They are started via ground command/MTL or by events generated on-board.

Tasks to be performed are:

• Creation of OBCPs using a development environment supplied by Astrium
  
• Support AIT during validation of OBCPs and tests using the OBCPs
  
• Verification of OBCP correctness using supplied ERC32 Simulator.
  
• Validation of OBCP development environment
  
• Creation of reports and user manuals

Candidate Profile and Skills

• A graduate degree in science or engineering, with a proven ability to solve problems independently and methodically.
  
• Good communication skills with an ability to work in a collaborative environment.
  
• Good command of written and spoken English. Some knowledge of German would be an advantage.
  
• At least 4 years relevant work experience.
  
• Knowledge of the software life cycle, space applications, their operations and on-board computer systems.
  
• Familiarity with scripting languages and databases.
  
• Good documentation skills
  
• Willingness to travel and valid work permit for the EU

Desirable Skills

• Experience with On-Board Control Procedures for satellites
• Familiarity with the MOIS software tool
