CAPTEC is an Irish-owned, high-technology software company founded in 1979. Its headquarters are located in Malahide, north of Dublin. Its field of specialisation lies in the production of advanced software for use in Aerospace, Aeronautics, Industrial and Medical Imaging markets. Some of CAPTECs past projects include the design of critical on board software for ESA space missions, such as the Operating System and Attitude & Orbit control Software (AOCS) used on the ISO, SOHO, and XMM satellites. In these projects it pioneered the use of Ada language for on-board software in European satellite missions. It was responsible for Data Management and control Software(DMS) for the Rosetta Lander ESS. In the Huygens probe (CASSINI) mission, CAPTEC conducted the first ISV project undertaken for the ESA programme with significantly beneficial results. Further successful ISV projects were performed Rosetta, Mars Express and Venus Express. Currently, CAPTEC is involved with the Herschel-Planck missions of the European Space Agency's Science Programme. In the Medical Imaging market CAPTEC has installed its CardiCon conferencing system
for remote referral of cardiology patients within several Irish hospitals.
